Aidan also possesses supernatural abilities. Rachel and Noah visit Anna’s widow, Richard, and find Anna’s medical files. They discover Anna adopted a girl, Samara, who can psychically etch images onto objects and minds. They find a missing video record and a birth certificate, which proves Samara, is the biological child of Richard and Anna.

Richard believes Samara is evil and commits suicide. They find a loft at Shelter Mountain Inn, where they find a well where Samara survived for seven days. Aidan warns Rachel that her help saved Samara, but she saves Aidan by creating another copy.

Rachel Keller, a skeptical journalist, uncovers a mysterious tape that leads to the mysterious deaths of four teenagers exactly one week after watching it. Rachel, driven by her curiosity, discovers a video and watches it, now having seven days to unravel the mystery.
