Stella discovers a new story called “Harold” in Sarah’s storybook, where Tommy, an inebriated boy, is stalked by Harold, his family’s scarecrow. Tommy is reported missing, and Harold is found dressed in Tommy’s clothes. “The Big Toe” and “The Red Spot” are two new stories in Sarah’s storybook.

 Auggie is kidnapped by a corpse searching for its missing toe, and friends attempt to destroy the storybook. They investigate Sarah’s life and discover that she died in a hospital, not in the Bellows’ house. Archives reveal electroshock therapy performed by her brother as a cover-up to get her to confess to killing children.
